Introduction: In this blog, I want to share all the gear I use to produce a podcast setup for some of my NFL clients. This is not the perfect set-up by any means, but it does get the job done while being flexible and versatile.
I use the Sony FX3, Sony A1, and the Sony A7IV or the A7RV. These cameras provide high-quality video for a professional-looking podcast.
For a two-person show, I use the Sony 20-70 F4 wide lens. For tight shots on each guest, I use the Sony 70-200 F4 Marco II, and the Tamron 35-150 2.8. These lenses allow for clear and well-framed shots of the podcast participants.
The most crucial factor in recording is audio. I use the Rode Wireless Pro because of the quick setup time and the 32-bit float for excellent sound quality.
After learning the hard way about the importance of making sure the audio is clean, I added RODE NTH-100 Professional Closed-Back Over-Ear Headphones (Black) to my gear. These headphones ensure that you can monitor your audio accurately and efficiently.
Since most clients usually film video content during the podcast, I like to use the Aputure LS 600d Daylight LED Monolight (V-Mount). Depending on the room size, I pair it with an Aputure Lantern 90 (3′) or an Aputure Lantern Softbox (2.2′) for optimal lighting.
Conclusion: I wanted to share this setup with you all because I craved more information when I started my podcast journey. I hope this can help you get your podcast going in the right direction.
